precondition

ActiveReports for .NET is intended for development in Visual Studio. You can develop in other development environments, but you will need Visual Studio if you want to take advantage of the full power of ActiveReports. This assumes that you have Visual Studio 2022 installed in the Windows environment where you are developing.

About ActiveReports for .NET

ActiveReports for .NET is a set of libraries and components for designing, programmatically displaying, and outputting forms, reports, etc. It is easier to understand what you can do by looking at the official website, so please refer to the following linked page.

Grape City Co., Ltd., the developer, is a Japan company, so I think it is safe to use Japanese in terms of support.

Pricing

ActiveReports for .NET is very powerful, but it is a paid product. You can verify it for free with a trial version, but you will be charged for actual development and publishing the created application.

Please refer to the official website for the actual fees incurred.

About Editions

ActiveReports for .NET is available in two editions: Standard and Professional. "Professional" has more features that can be used, but the price is higher. Consider which edition to use depending on the features you want to use.

Please refer to the official website to see what the differences are.

Get a Trial

This time, we will get the trial version and install it. Please note that the trial version has an expiration date. For the full version, the method of obtaining it is slightly different, but the installation procedure is the same.

To get the trial version, go to the following page.

Select the target edition and click the "Get" button. In this case, we are choosing the Professional version.

To get the trial version, you need to register for an account. If you already have an account, log in from the input field on the left, and if you do not have an account, register from the input item on the right.

Select "ActiveReports for .NET" in the selection of products to download.

Next, get a trial key for the eligible edition. Click the "Get Key" button on the left.

The key will be displayed, so copy it and make a note of it.

Then download the installer. Click the "Download" button on the right.

When prompted, select Yes.

It will be downloaded as a ZIP file, so please take out the contents.

install

Launch the downloaded installer file.

When the screen appears, click the "License Agreement" link to confirm the contents. If you agree, check "I accept the terms in the license agreement". You can leave the "installation folder" as it is unless there is a particular reason. When you're done, click the "Install" button.

Administrator privileges are required, so select "Yes".

When the installation is complete, check "Start "GrapeCity License Manager" after the installer is finished" and close it. The GrapeCity License Manager can also be launched at a later time.

If there is an update, please update it.

When the GrapeCity License Manager starts, click "Activation".

Enter the product key of the trial version and click the "Authorize" button.

Once the trial license is activated, you're done.
