Record desktop video (Tool: AG-Desktop Recorder)
Advantages and disadvantages of the feeling used
There are many recording tools, but the advantages and disadvantages of using "AG-Desktop Recorder" are as follows. (I see it in my personal subjectivity.)
Benefits
- You can use all the basic recording functions.
- Can be output as standard to a WMV format with a good balance of cost and quality.
- Shortcut keys for starting and ending recordings are useful
- Can record cleanly without falling frames
Disadvantages
- There is no ability to automatically set the recording range for the window.
Installation and operation procedures
Go tothe AG-Desktop Recorder download page and click the download link to download the file. Because it is not in the installer format, please take the file from the downloaded ZIP file and copy it to any folder.
After extracting the file, double-click the AGDRec.exe file to start it.
The codec and encoding mode selection screen is displayed first. Please select any one because the description of the codec type is as shown on the screen. "Windows Media Video" is selected here.
For the encoding mode, select Buffering Encoding. This reduces the amount of frames that fall off in the recording, even if windows is under sudden load. I think that it is not likely to run out of memory if it is a recent PC.
If you check "Shift+show only when started", this screen will appear only when you start AGDRec.exe while holding down the Shift key.
Click the OK button to close it and the AG-Desktop Recorder icon will appear in the task tray. This is basically where you start.
Right-click the task tray icon to display a menu. If you select "Start Recording" as it is, the recording of the entire monitor will start, but let's look at the settings first.
The figure is on the left side of the settings screen.
You can leave the capture settings as they are. If you want to record at low FPS, lower the number.
Since the recording range specification can be specified separately, it is OK as it is. When auto-size adjustment is enabled, it is a little easier because it can be adjusted only by the integer multiple specified when setting the range with the mouse.
You can switch the recording control key setting to start and end recording with the shortcut key. Please set the shortcut key which does not collide with other applications because it is comparatively convenient.
You can switch the check box to whether you want to record the mouse cursor when recording.
You can make detailed configuration changes in the mode settings. If you are using buffering encoding, set the work memory to a maximum. This increases the likelihood that you will be able to avoid falling frames while recording.
The codec settings depend on the type of codec you choose. The diagram is when you selected the WMV. You can set various items such as quality.
Audio can be recorded by selecting the device on which the audio is playing.
As for the recording output, the file is saved automatically after the recording is completed, so specify any folder and file name. If you check "Add date and time", the date and time will be added to the recorded file name, so even if you record repeatedly, you will not overwrite the previous recording file.
You can record any range by right-clicking the task tray icon and selecting "Region-specific recording". If this is not set, the entire monitor will be recorded.
If you are specifying an area for the first time, there is only "Direct Specification", so click the OK button as it is.
Click the OK button.
Drag the mouse across the screen to specify the recording area. The specified range is displayed in yellow. Since the starting position is in one pixel, it is difficult to adjust with the mouse, so I will specify the approximate range for the time being.
After you specify the range, you can set the parameters. Since the recording area remains yellow, you can adjust the recording range by typing the start point numerically. If you want to keep the specified area, you can select it next time by checking "Add to region list" and entering the registration name.
As soon as you click the Start Recording button, recording starts in that area. If you select "Complete processing", the area is temporarily saved and exited.
By the way, if you specify an area, the recording range will be displayed in a yellow frame while the AG-Desktop Recorder is running.
If recording starts, do so. If you want to end the recording, right-click the icon in the task tray to exit, or use the shortcut key you registered to exit. When exited, the recording data is output to the file.
You can verify that the recording file is output to a given folder.
